A
Jared Lizakowski was a student of mine at the Boulder Drum Studio for almost 4 years. He was a brilliant young man with a promising career in music when on October 26, 2016 at the age of 19; he died from a tragic motorcycle accident. He had a heart of gold with a never-ending smile, and was a supportive friend who was always very generous of his time.
To honor his memory, and with the help of donations, I created a program for low-income or indigent families called Drumming for Jared where students can take weekly drum lessons at no cost. The student is also provided with a drum set to practice on at home through the duration of their program.
The program has grown tremendously with quite a few students currently enrolled. The Boulder Drum Studio has had several fundraisers to help support the program and many music related items have been graciously donated by prominent music companies in addition to legendary recording artists and celebrities.
Autographed Music Memorabilia and Gifts was created by the studio to assist in funding the Drumming for Jared program.
